At BORDGENOTEN, we've built multiple layers of safety and trust into every aspect of our platform. From verified profiles to payment protection, we're committed to creating a secure environment where you can connect with confidence.

Verification Process

Before anyone can book or host a dinner, they must complete our verification process:

  • Email verification - Confirm your email address
  • Phone verification - SMS code to verify your number
  • Profile completion - Add photo, bio, and preferences
  • Identity check - For hosts, additional verification may be required
  • Membership payment - Verified payment method on file

How Trust Levels Work

New members start as "New" with limited booking capacity. As you attend dinners, host successfully, and receive positive reviews, you progress through trust levels:

  • 🌱 New - First 3 dinners attended, can book 1 dinner at a time
  • ⭐ Established - 5+ dinners attended, 4.0+ rating, can book 3 dinners
  • 💎 Trusted - 10+ dinners, 4.5+ rating, priority booking
  • 👑 Community Leader - 25+ dinners, 4.8+ rating, special privileges

Privacy & Data Protection

Your privacy matters. Here's what we share and when:

  • Before booking - Hosts see your first name, photo, and public profile
  • After approval - Hosts see dietary requirements and your message
  • After payment - Both parties see first name and can message
  • Day of dinner - Full address is revealed to confirmed guests
  • We never share - Your email, phone, or last name without permission

  • Share your plans with a friend or family member
  • Check host/guest reviews before accepting
  • Trust your instincts - decline if something feels off
  • Keep valuables secure during dinners
  • Report any concerning behavior immediately
  • Don't share personal contact info until comfortable

Zero Tolerance

We have zero tolerance for:

  • Discrimination or harassment of any kind
  • Inappropriate behavior or advances
  • Violation of consent or boundaries
  • Theft or property damage
  • Fake profiles or fraudulent activity
  • Any illegal activity

Members build reputation through attendance, hosting, and reviews. New members have limited access

Secure Payments

All payments through Tikkie. Hosts receive payment before the dinner, guests protected by platform

24/7 Support

Our safety team is available around the clock to handle reports and respond to emergencies

Emergency Contact

If you experience an emergency during a dinner, call emergency services (112 in Netherlands) first, then contact our safety team immediately at +31 6 1234 5678. We're available 24/7.

Safety Questions

What if I feel uncomfortable during a dinner?

Your safety comes first. If you feel uncomfortable, you can leave at any time. Contact our support team immediately and we'll help resolve the situation. We take all reports seriously.

How do you handle reports of misconduct?

All reports are investigated within 24 hours. Serious violations result in immediate account suspension. We may request additional information and contact both parties. Decisions are made based on evidence and in line with our community guidelines.

What happens to my data if I report someone?

Reports are confidential. We only share details with the involved parties and only what's necessary for investigation. Your identity as a reporter may be revealed if required by law or for serious safety issues.

Can hosts or guests have background checks?

Currently, we verify email, phone, and payment methods. For hosts with Trusted or Community Leader status, additional verification may be required. We're exploring background check options for the future.

What if someone cancels last minute repeatedly?

We track cancellation patterns. Repeated last-minute cancellations (within 24 hours) result in warnings, reduced trust level, and possible suspension. Legitimate emergencies are considered case-by-case.

Is my payment information secure?

Yes. All payments are processed through Tikkie, a secure Dutch payment service. We never store your full payment details on our servers. Your financial information is protected by bank-level encryption.
